In an article published on 11 February 2026 in Askermagasinet, the Norwegian municipality of Asker shares its experiences with digital home monitoring – a service they describe as “a low-threshold offering with great impact.”
The article highlights how structured, digital follow-up provides increased safety, improved self-management, and a higher quality of life for users. One example is 92-year-old Jon Kristoffer Rud, who, after a period of illness, was offered digital home monitoring. Today, he measures his blood pressure and oxygen saturation at home. The measurements are sent to the municipality’s response centre, where healthcare professionals monitor the data and contact the patient in case of deviations.
“Having the opportunity for such close contact with healthcare professionals is absolutely fantastic,” Rud says in the article.
In autumn 2025, Asker Municipality conducted a user survey in which 27 out of 40 users responded. The results show that:
The municipality emphasises that the service provides both greater freedom and reassurance. Users can bring the equipment with them to their holiday cabin while still knowing that healthcare professionals are monitoring their health. At the same time, the systematic follow-up helps detect changes early, which can prevent deterioration and enable more people to live at home for longer.
Digital home monitoring in Asker is part of a comprehensive care pathway, including follow-up from the municipality’s intervention team after illness. The response centre is staffed by a nurse or physiotherapist on weekdays, and there are clear routines for daily submission and clinical assessment of measurement data.
This combination of technology, structure, and clinical integration is central to the positive effects described in the article.
In Asker, Cuviva’s solution is used for digital home monitoring. The solution is certified as a Class IIa medical device in accordance with EU regulations (MDR) and is developed for use in structured clinical follow-up of patients in their homes.
