Cuviva Wins Bronze at the inUse Award 2019

The e-health company Cuviva secured third place at the inUse Award 2019 last night.
This award highlights Swedish solutions that make users’ everyday lives simpler and more enjoyable.

“Our users are elderly individuals who often have little experience with digital tools. It is fantastic to see how 95-year-olds handle our digital tool with ease. The entire Cuviva team has made a tremendous effort, which has allowed us to receive this award,” says Fredrik Koffner, co-founder of Cuviva.

Digital Health Solutions for the Most Vulnerable Patients
Cuviva develops e-health solutions focused on patients with the greatest need for healthcare: multimorbid and frail elderly individuals. This group represents only 3–4% of the population but accounts for 50% of total healthcare costs. These individuals often live at home but, due to their health condition, frequently visit hospitals.

With Cuviva’s user-friendly measuring tools and a tablet, patients can independently measure and report their blood pressure, pulse, and weight to their healthcare provider. Their health data is remotely monitored by healthcare professionals, who also conduct regular video meetings with patients. This enables patients to stay safely at home and receive proactive care, rather than only seeking medical attention in emergency situations.

“Instead of today’s often reactive healthcare, we are creating opportunities for healthcare providers to focus more on the individual needs of each patient at any given moment. For this to work, our tool must be extremely easy to use, as those with the greatest need for care are often also the least digitally experienced. This places high demands on user-friendliness and design,” says Hannes Larsson, Head of Design at Cuviva.

Democratic Digitalization for Equal Healthcare
Cuviva takes a values-driven approach, based on the vision of democratic digitalization for fair and accessible healthcare.

“We aim to enable new, proactive working methods that not only improve care and the quality of life for patients but also enhance the work environment for caregivers and the financial efficiency of healthcare. This requires new digital innovations. But if everyone is to benefit from digitalization, we must especially include those with the least experience using digital tools. This is where user-friendliness plays a crucial role,” emphasizes Fredrik Koffner.

Cuviva Wins Bronze – Jury Statement:
“With digital technology, this service brings healthcare to the patient – instead of the other way around. Safer, simpler, and more efficient for both parties!”
